Summary
HIU’s HI-Home” is a unique hybrid kids’ series combining character animation and live-action drama, designed to promote healthy Korean home-cooked meals to picky eaters. The story follows HIU, who ignores her grandmother’s lovingly prepared dishes and lives on convenience store snacks—until the witch Black-HIU curses her, turning her into a character and stealing her taste buds. To return to normal, HIU must finish six traditional dishes (bulgogi ssambap, three-colored namul, soybean paste soup, grilled mackerel, kimchi stew, and mushroom hot pot), all while dodging the witch’s tricks and battling her cravings for ramen and meat.
Season 1, supported by the Korea Creative Content Agency, will premiere on LG FEST streaming platform. The series blends real-world settings and characters with animated elements, uses taste-cell characters to intuitively express flavors (sweet, salty, sour), and invites children to cook along at home during grandmother’s cooking scenes. Collaborations with the Rural Development Administration and the Hansik Globalization Foundation ensure authenticity, while traditional markets and landmarks like Changgyeonggung Palace enhance cultural and tourism appeal. The series also features original music, with the opening theme by Nasan Hyun Band and ending theme by Namgoong Jin-Young, supported by music videos to boost global promotion.
