Summary

Late in the Joseon Dynasty, Jae-woo—the firstborn of a distinguished Confucian noble family—suffers a devastating fall from a horse, leaving him completely paralyzed. Once destined to carry on the family legacy, he is now bedridden, cut off from the world, and burdened by hopelessness.

While his household exhausts every effort to restore his health, a humble servant named Gae-ddong brings home a forbidden book said to offer healing and life: the Bible. Passed to the household steward Hae-il, the pages of the book are quietly pasted across the walls of Jae-woo’s room—transforming the space into a sanctuary of scripture.

As he lies motionless, Jae-woo begins to encounter the presence of "Yesu" (Jesus) through the words on the walls. The miracles, compassion, and unwavering faith found in the Gospels awaken something long buried: hope.

Moved by this revelation, he shares the stories of Christ with his younger brother Jae-heon. From their imaginations and hearts, the life of Jesus is reimagined—unfolding not in the sands of Galilee, but through the delicate brushstrokes of Eastern painting.

A poetic meditation on healing, revelation, and the quiet power of faith, I Have Seen the Lord tells the story of a man transformed not by movement, but by the Word that moved within him.
