The Rogue Goddess

Summary

A fallen moon goddess.

A battle against eternal darkness begins!

Summary

Born from the sacred cinnamon tree, Boreum was destined to become the next Moon Goddess. For ages, she cared for the moon and guided its believers with grace. Her divine path seemed unquestionable—until she met Kim Hyeon, a mortal man with beautiful words and a hidden ambition.

Enchanted by love, Boreum trusted him. But that trust led to betrayal. Stripped of her divine title, she plummeted to the human world. Now, to reclaim her power and return to the moon, she must hunt down dark spirits.

Boreum joins forces with Sanho, a mountain guardian who lost his deity, and Yeonhwa, a shaman slowly consumed by evil forces. Together, the three form an unlikely trio—a goddess, a guardian, and a human—battling demonic forces threatening to plunge the world into darkness.

Meanwhile, Kim Hyeon—once human, now tainted—seeks to possess Boreum at any cost. Twisting a deal with Geumeum, the dark counterpart born from the same divine tree, he sacrifices both gods and mortals in a desperate attempt to crown Geumeum as the new Moon Goddess.

As gods, monsters, and mortals clash, Boreum must confront her past, her broken heart, and her duty—not just to the moon, but to all who live beneath it.

Set across Korea and Japan, The Rogue Goddess is a fast-paced East Asian occult fantasy where mythology, love, revenge, and cosmic warfare collide. Drawing on shamanic lore, mountain deities, and the moon’s divine legacy, the novel explores what happens when gods fall—and mortals hunger to rise.

With rich worldbuilding, haunting atmosphere, and deeply flawed characters, the novel presents a unique K-occult narrative that bridges modern fantasy with traditional myth.

Main Characters

Boreum

Successor to the Moon Goddess. The first child born from the moon’s sacred cinnamon tree.
Deceived by the sweetness of first love, she falls into the human world. To survive and regain the strength needed to return to the moon, she takes on ghost-hunting assignments. Her weapon is a baseball bat imbued with lunar power. Her favorite snack is lime-flavored potato chips.

Sanho

A loyal guardian of a mountain spirit. Normally takes human form, but actually, he is a tiger.
After his master, the mountain deity Mago, is killed by Kim Hyeon, he joins Boreum on her quest for vengeance. Stoic and emotionally reserved, he gradually falls in love with Boreum. He loves mountains and Korean sausage rice cakes (sotteok-sotteok).

Yeonhwa

A human shaman formerly possessed by stray spirits. After being rescued by Boreum, she joins Boreum and Sanho as a steadfast ally.

Kim Hyeon

A brilliant but illegitimate son from a low-status family, known for his striking looks and burning jealousy. Desperate to transcend his human limitations, he forms a pact with Geumeum and lures Boreum from the moon. His obsession with her manifests as a dangerously warped possessiveness.

Geumeum

The second child born from the moon’s sacred cinnamon tree. She appears as an innocent girl but treats human lives like toys. Envious of the Moon Goddess's throne, she deceives Kim Hyeon into pulling Boreum down from the moon. As punishment, she too is cast into the human world. Now, she manipulates Kim Hyeon as her servant, scheming to eliminate Boreum and reclaim her path to the moon.
